Games now on itch.io

I’ve decided to use itch.io rather than my own website as the main home of my games online. Links on my website now point to each game’s itch.io page.

For anyone who doesn’t know, itch.io is a popular indie games marketplace. Hosting my games there will hopefully make them more discoverable, since they’ll appear in search results and so forth.

The page that shares Seedship results still lives on my website, since as far as I can tell it’s not possible for an itch.io game to access the query string in a URL. (That’s the reason I didn’t use itch.io as Seedship‘s main home in the first place.) Clicking “Play Seedship” on that page will now take you to itch.io, though.

Bonus: itch.io supports discussion boards attached to game pages, and I’ve turned it on for Seedship so it now has an official discussion board, if you want to brag about your scores or talk about how difficult it is to get the Simulation ending.

Apart from discoverability, the reason I’ve made this change is that my website was running out of bandwidth! Too many people are playing my games (mostly Seedship, but the others have had respectable traffic as well) for hosting them on a personal website to be viable.

I think the move has gone smoothly, but if you have any problems with the games now, please let me know.
