Seedship 1.3.0: Natives expansion and new random events

I’ve just released version 1.3.0 of Seedship! This version adds five new rare travel events and an expansion to how native civilisations work. I’ve also added a lot more planet names, most of them suggested by you on Patreon and Reddit.

Play Seedship 1.3.0

You can play the new version online at my website, or at philome.la, itch.io, or textadventures.co.uk. The Android and iOS versions will be updated within a few days. The Microsoft Zo version is also being updated.

Full release notes:

  • Native civilisations now have a culture level as well as a technology level.
  • Relations with natives are now based on the average of your cultural database and their culture level, rather than just your cultural database. As before, this is then modified by the difference between your tech level and theirs.
  • Neolithic and higher native civilisations can be planet-spanning, meaning there’s no free land for the colonists to set up their own community away from the natives. This leads to a modified colony founding sequence, in which humans live as immigrants in the alien society.
  • 22 new default planet names (roughly doubling the total number), plus 35 alien names for planets with planet-spanning civilisations.
  • 5 new rare random events, some of which lead to planets with event-specific planet features.
  • Added a new red-yellow-cyan colour scheme intended to be easier to read for yellow/green colourblind players. Added a new interface for selecting the colour scheme.
  • The Black Hole event now kills fewer colonists (up to 50 rather than up to 150).
  • Fixed several minor bugs.
